Christianity

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.” (Isaiah 54:10)

It is this fact which also makes it possible to say that whoever believes in Christ is not only contained in him, but that Christ then dwells in the believer as the perfect man formed in the image of God, the second Adam. Psychologically, it is the same relationship as that in Indian philosophy between man’s ego-consciousness and purusha, or atman. It is the ascendency of the “complete”——or total human being, consisting of the totality of the psyche, of conscious and unconscious, over the ego, which represents only consciousness and its contents and knows nothing of the unconscious, although in many respects it is dependent on the unconscious and is often decisively influenced by it. This relationship of the self to the ego is reflected in the relationship of Christ to man.

Provided below are books based on Christian principles that have given me immense support and guidance. Hope you all can benefit just as equally (if not more). Click on image to download.

“If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.” (1 John 4:20)

St. John Climacus was a 7th century Christian monk; I found this book through researching numerology and the hidden esoteric layers of biblical passages (Jacob’s Ladder).

I discovered Paul Tillich through a co-therapist who first introduced me to existential psychology; his work relates finding meaning & faith through religious structures and ideas.

One of the deepest exploratory books on the psychology of religion; specifically on the development of ‘God’ from Polytheism to Monotheism.

I read this book as a teenager and it was perhaps the first one to challenge my preconceived notions on what the concept of ‘faith’ even means.

I found this book next to my cubicle when I worked at the Youth Detention Center; it goes in that special part of my life; ‘books that found me’

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.” (Matthew 8:35)

“Think not of those who are slain in Allah’s way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord; They rejoice in the bounty provided by Allah.” (Qur’an; 3:169)
